Anything from a weekend break away from the city buzz, overlanding throughout Africa, or even just trying to raise my two boys by cultivating a love for the outdoors. At the same time ensuring that they don’t kill each other on these adventures :-)

So there is this little word “patience” that a

So there is this little word “patience” that always (more in my younger days 🤔) follows me around. I am not someone to shy away from it, but I have learned (still leaning 😜) over the years to manage it and the older I get some things just don’t faze me anymore.

E.g. traveling with my boys solo there was/is sometimes silly things that would test my patience, but the more I travelled/do things with them the more I learned from them and the way they see life, places and when put in uncomfortable situations or scenarios how they would approach it.

If you have been following some of our content you would have seen that we travelled with our other family members (dogs) also. Sadly 3 of our dogs passed away last year due to age, but we were blessed with a new charming member called, Mila (Golden Retriever).

Like with the boys, this lady brought a new dynamic when it comes to patience, as she, like with the boys, has a different view on things and that doesn’t sync sometimes with mine 😊.

But we’ve learned and we still learning. It has gotten to a point that when she see the vehicle keys she gets all excited and just want to jump in and tag along.

So yeah, we going to take on more “pet friendly” adventures so if you know of any that you can recommend please let us know.

So great to see how one generation transfer knowledge & experience to another.

Good mate @paul_laas, farming in the Kunene region, gave the boys the opportunity to work some sheep.

Catching of lambs was off-course the highlight and then teaching Jean how to castrate ram lambs.

From Torra Bay we went to Nungubais which is located in the #kunene region, +/-40km from #outjo.

It was great spending some quality time with good friends, Paul & Marina Laas who allowed us to experience a snippet of their lives in this beautiful country, #namibia.

I have so much admiration & respect for my two son

I have so much admiration & respect for my two sons.

It is not always sunshine & roses and there are definitely those occasional “reset” moments. And, most definitely, I am also not the easiest person to be around with sometimes, but whenever I put them in uncomfortable situations (e.g. long-distance travels, remote places, min/max weather conditions…) they always seem to surprise me.

The one thing that does stand out, is how they have adapted over the years to “not-so-comfortable” situations/places. I remember the first time they saw #verneukpan in the Northern Cape. They were gobsmacked with shock and probably wondered what did they do wrong that they had to visit such a place. 😊 But a few years later, their reactions changed when confronted with these situations/places, and they soon learned to appreciate the beauty of it.

To have the opportunity to experience #torrabay in #namibia with them was an absolute privilege. I am blessed.
